Both manufacturers offer electric and petrol powered saws.
Recent developments. Saws aimed at the domestic user are now easier to start – Husqvarna’s Smart Start and Stihl’s ErgoStart. Both manufacturers have introduced “tool-less” chain tensioning on certain models and are also fitting up rated chain brakes for added safety.

Electric saws are aimed at the lighter duty and DIY user and offer a hassle free way of cutting up small quantities of fire wood and even find some uses in the building trade.
They offer instant starting, no exhaust emissions and low noise!

Petrol saws. Both manufacturers divide their ranges using terms such as Homeowner, Landowner, Professional and Specialist Tree Care Saws.

The general rule of thumb is that you should have three chains to use in turn with one bar and a sprocket so that they all wear evenly together. Introducing a new chain to a worn bar and sprocket will considerably reduce its potential life.

Chainsaws are potentially the most dangerous things that we sell! Other than top handled saws designed for use by tree surgeons you do not need any form of permit or licence to buy one. If you do not already own chainsaw safety clothing we will be pleased to discuss the options with you. We can also point you in the direction of people offering various levels of safety training.
