CYLINDER MOWERS
The traditional British lawnmower for formal lawns, bowling greens, cricket fields etc
For - the ultimate fine striped finish - if the lawn is good enough.
Against - susceptible to accidental damage - sticks & stones can knock them out of adjustment. Expensive to maintain. Unable to cope with long wet grass.
ROLLER ROTARY MOWERS
The "jack of all trades" of the mower world.
For - Will produce a good striped finish and will also cope with long wet grass. Rear roller allows cutting right up to the lawn edge. Tolerant of minor "dings". Lower maintenance costs.
Against - not much!
4-WHEELED ROTARY MOWERS
Originally "cut and drop" machines but now with grass collection & mulching options.
For - the best long, rough grass cutters.
Against - Mediocre finish - no stripes. Can't mow right up to the edge of the lawn.
HOVER MOWERS
For - Ideal for getting into awkward corners and working on slopes.
Against - Tend to leave an untidy finish & can be heavy to use. Awkward to move when switched off.
SICKLE or FINGER-BAR MOWERS
These are machines with out-front reciprocating blades for cutting long grass for haymaking or where it is desirable to remove the cut grass to "starve" wild flower meadows. Often referred to as “Allen Scythes” after the machine of that name that used to be made by Allen of Oxford.

Lawnflite Range or Roller Rotary Grass Collecting Mowers
Lawnflite Rotary Three machines , one 19” model and two 21” models. Built with shaft driven gearboxes, heavy duty alloy decks, sealed roller bearings and strong handles. Full width steel rollers giving a pronounced stripe on your lawn. Blade clutch as standard on the three moedels so the engine can run without the blade rotating. Height of cut from 15mm up to 77mm. Mulch kit available for the two 21” models.
